NFDHR trains 140 IDPs in livelihood skills in Saada



The Governor of Saada, Sheikh Muhammad Jaber Awad, launched a training program for IDPs on capacity building in livelihood skills, implemented by the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response with the support of the Yemen Humanitarian Fund in coordination with the Technical Education and Vocational Training Office.
The governor praised NFDHR efforts in implementing sustainable development projects in Saada Governorate, stressing that IDPs training project will contribute to building the capabilities of the displaced, providing them with building skills in the fields of electricity, plumbing, sewing, painting, agriculture, to improve their standard of living and provide them with job opportunities after their graduation.

He called on other organizations to follow the example of NFDHR in implementing similar projects because of their positive impact in mitigating the effects of war and improving the standard of living of the displaced.

Pointing out the need for the trainees after their graduation to train the displaced and the poor in their regions on the skills and professions they acquired during the training program.

For his part, Director of Programs at the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response, Engineer Khaled Al-Othmani, stated that the training program aims to train 140 displaced persons in the districts of Al-Safra and Sahar over a period of 60 days.

Eng. Al-Othmani stressed that the Foundation will provide bags with technical equipment for trainees after finishing the training, including sewing machines for trainees in the field of sewing, and other bags containing tools and supplies of construction, painting, carpentry, agriculture and plumbing, each in his field of specialization, in a way that helps the displaced to instantly join the labor market after training.

In addition, Mr. Taher Sharaf, director of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Office, considered IDP training project as a good step towards providing job opportunities for the displaced and helping them join the labor market.

He emphasized the Technical Education and Vocational Training Office readiness to cooperate with organizations to adopt training programs in all skills and specialties required by the labor market.

The inauguration was attended by the Governor's Undersecretary Abdullah Al-Qasimi and the Director of NFDHR Office of in Saada Governorate Eng. Khaled Al-Leith.
