Food aid brings life back to displaced family

In a village in Al-Jarahi district, lives the displaced Anwar family from Hodeidah governorate. Their story is one of struggle and resilience. Three years ago, the family fled the horrors of war, leaving everything behind. They lived in a single room, facing the difficulties of life with all its challenges.

The father, Anwar, the head of the household, suffers from a physical disability that prevents him from working and supporting his family. This increased the burden of responsibility on his wife and children, who were forced to face the harsh realities of life.

Four of Anwar's children were deprived of their right to education and were forced to leave school to find work to help their father support the family. They worked in the fields for a meager wage, leaving their dreams and aspirations behind.

With the scarcity of job opportunities, it became increasingly difficult to provide for the family's basic needs, especially food. They lived on scraps of food, threatened by the specter of hunger at every moment.

Amidst these difficult circumstances, a survey of families in the area was conducted, and the Anwar family was targeted through the NFDHR emergency food aid project funded by the World Food Programme (WFP).

Receiving a monthly food bag was a turning point in the Anwar family's life. It helped improve their living conditions significantly, and the family now enjoys food security.

With the availability of food, the father was able to send his children back to school. Hope returned to their eyes, and they now have ambitions and dreams for the future.

The food aid project was not just a passing help, but it was a ray of hope for the Anwar family. The project brought life back to this family and enabled them to live with dignity .
