Introductory Workshop on Emergency Response for Health and Nutrition Services Project in Al-Bayda




Mr. Nasser Al-Wahbi, Undersecretary for Health Affairs at Al-Bayda Governorate, inaugurated on Wednesday September 23, the introductory workshop for the Emergency Response Health and Nutrition Services Project implemented by the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NFDHR) and funded by UNICEF and with the support of the World Bank.

In his speech at the opening of the workshop, Al-Wahbi stressed the need to work with a team spirit, in a way that contributes to providing health care services to the needy.
Similarly, the Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in Al-Bayda Governorate, Dr. Mujahid Al-Khatari, praised the efforts of the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response in supporting the health sector in the governorate.
Dr. Al-Khatari assured that these efforts actually contributed to supporting the health system and combating epidemics in the governorate, especially the cholera during the past years.
In addition, the Director of the Foundation's office in Al-Bayda Governorate, Dr. Faisal Jarad, explained that the workshop, which was held with the participation of directors of health offices in Al-Bayda governorate and its directorates, aims to familiarize the participants with the project's activities.

Mr. Jarad further commented that the emergency response project for health and nutrition services aims to strengthen the health system by supporting and operating 60 health facilities in Al-Bayda governorate to provide a package of primary health care services and support them with operational expenses, as well as supplying health facilities at the governorate level with medicines and medical equipment and supporting the integrated supervision activity in the governorate; in addition to building the capacity of 420 health workers in the targeted health facilities.

The General Director of the General Secretariat Branch of the Supreme Council for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Abdul Jabbar Al-Amdi was present in the workshop as well.
